Yonhap’s news cable TV begins in Korea

Yonhap News Agency’s news cable TV channel, “news Y,” began broadcasting nationwide today, launching a new chapter in South Korea’s media, the agency reports.

The channel broadcast its first signal through cable TV networks and a satellite broadcasting channel. Its services are also available on Internet Protocol Television (IPTV).

Four new general programme cable channels also launched their services today. The four are “MBN,” “JTBC,” “CSTV” and “Channel A”, respectively run by the broadcasting arms of Maeil Business Newspaper, the JoongAng Ilbo daily, the Chosun Ilbo daily and the Donga Ilbo daily.
