Vietnamese enterprises have invested in 601 projects abroad with total registered capital of over US$10 billion and had disbursed some US$2 billion by September this year, according to statistics from the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Agency (FIA). They have gained a firm foothold in 53 countries and territories in the world and are now penetrating the EU, US and Australian markets.
The biggest investors include the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (HAGL), the military-run Viettel Group, FPT Corp, the Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), and Vietnam Multimedia Corp. (VTC). In recent years, information technology and communications projects have taken the lead in investing abroad.
