Muppidi

 

Prof. Sundeep Muppidi, Secretary-General

Dr. Muppidi is an alumnus of the Management Development Programme of the School of Education of Harvard University. He has a doctorate in Mass Communication from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, USA and a Master’s in Communication from the University of Hyderabad, India. He has over 15 years of teaching experience at universities around the world. His teaching and research interests are in media studies, international communication, new media and communication technologies, health communication, globalization, communication for social change and empowerment, video and multimedia production, and both Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods. Dr. Muppidi is presently on leave from his job as an associate professor of communication at the School of Communication, University of Hartford, CT, USA.


Arun
Mr. Arun Mahizhnan, Advisor

Arun Mahizhnan is a member of the Board of Directors of AMIC and the Chairman of its Board of Management.  Arun is Deputy Director of the Institute of Policy Studies, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Communication & Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. 

His research interests include media, arts and cultural polices. Prior to joining IPS in 1991, he had worked for two decades in the public and private sectors in the fields of broadcasting and  public communications.

Outside his work, Arun has long and deep association with the arts and cultural activities in Singapore.

He has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore and was given a Lifetime Achievement award by IPRS. He is also a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science. 


Ivy

Ms. Ivy  Alcantara, Executive Secretary

Ivy is the Executive Secretary to the Secretary-General and handles AMIC’s administration. She has a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of the East, Philippines.


Kalinga

Dr. Kalinga Seneviratne, Head of Research

Dr Kalinga Seneviratne was originally trained as an Engineer but later became a radio broadcaster, journalist, media analysts and international communications lecturer. He has worked for IPS news agency as the Australian and South Pacific correspondent for 7 years and has been part of their 'Terra Viva' reporting team at a number of major international conferences around the world. He was also a community radio broadcaster in Australia for over 15 years and has won an UN Media Peace Award and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia’s Education Award for services to the sector. He is a prolific writer on international communication issues and holds a PhD in International Communications from Macquarie University, Australia, MA in Social Sciences from the University of Technology Sydney and a BSc with honours in Engineering Science from Reading University, UK. He has taught International Communications, Cross-Cultural Communications, Radio Production and Journalism in Australia and Singapore.  For more details click here


Tharuka

Ms. Tharuka Prematillake, Research Assistant

Tharuka is a research assistant at AMIC. Some of the research projects she has worked on include, Understanding and Disseminating MDGs in Asia; UNESCO’s Fostering Media Accountability and Self Regulation; UNESCO-UNDP Workshop on Good Governance & Enhancing Democratic Participation and ASEAN Media Forum.

Tharuka is the voice behind our audio magazine on AMIC’s media portal. She also manages multimedia projects and has worked on the documentary titled “Buddhism across Asia” produced by AMIC in association with ISEAS in Singapore.

She is graduated from the Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2004 with a Diploma of Mass Communication and a Gold Certificate of CCAs.

Ms. Angie Chew, Publication Executive

Angie Chew handles publications and subscription for Media Asia, a quarterly journal. She is also the editor for the bi-monthly Asian Media and Communication Bulletin (AMCB). She is a graduate in Communication Studies from Monash University, Australia.


Sandhya

Ms. Sandhya Srinivasan, Marketing Associate

Sandhya holds an MBA from the Institute of Technology and Management, Mumbai. She handles all conferences and events at AMIC, including the flagship Annual Conference, the Radio Asia conference, the New Media conference and other events that AMIC hosts. Sandhya is also in charge of AMIC's membership, she also handles the marketing portfolio. Sandhya's hobbies include reading and watching movies. Her interests include popular culture, organizational behavior and gender issues.


Lorraine

Ms. Lorraine Perera, Membership Coordinator

Lorraine handles membership and coordinating in AMIC. She is also the liaison for ACRC.


George

Mr. George Tan, Database Manager

George is the Webmaster for AMIC and he also takes care of  all IT related matters including  database management and design. After 40 years of service, George will be retiring from end-September.


Goh

Mr. Goh Siew York, Accounts Executive

Siew York takes care of all finance and human resources matters in AMIC.


Adelaide

Ms. Adelaide Chang, Media and Corporate Relations

Adelaide Chang takes care of all Media and Corporate Relations with AMIC and assists with other events and projects as needed.


Premila

Ms. Premila Manvi, Project Manager AYCN
Premila is a graduate of the Master of Arts program in Communication from the University of Hartford, USA.  Premila handles AMIC's young communicators network, AYCN.net and also assists with various projects of AMIC.
